212 / SHOP FATSHIONISTA UPDATE!

Hey everyone! People have been asking me about the status of the new shop so I wanted to do a quick post updating about it. The cliffnotes version is that I lost the USB cord to my camera (hence the lack of outfit posts!) and apparently I have to get a “specialty” cord from the manufacturer Samsung because regular camera USB cords are too large. I’ve been trying to track one down but its been unsuccessful thus far. In combination with other unfortunate news, its all been one big headache. I’m working to get things organized and will probably just get another camera or a memory card reader.

I hope you guys don’t hate me! I’m trying to sort it out!

200 / MUSINGS OF A FATSHIONISTA PRESS & HOUSEKEEPING

Last week was a very good week for the fat-o-sphere! First up, Marie Claire columnist Ashley Falcon listed her favorite online plus size fashion resources and Musings of a Fatshionista was mentioned along with the other amazing blogs like Fatshionable, Garner Style, and Young, Fat and Fabulous! Then, a great article about fat fashion blogs was published in the Guardian UK website and weekend paper! The article interviews several prominent fatshion bloggers from around the world including, Deena of Fat Girls Like Nice Clothes Too!, Ragini of Forays in Fatshion, Lilli of Frocks & Frou Frou, Gabi of YFF and yours truly!

Huge thanks to Kira Cochrane and Guy Lane at the Guardian for reaching out to me and letting me be a part of it!

As Monif C tweeted earlier this year, it feels like we’re smack dab in the middle of a plus size revolution! There are so many great things happening that I feel like possibly, the fashion world is starting to take us serious. It is definitely exciting and I can’t wait to see what 2010 has in store!

Lastly, I obviously wouldn’t be much without all of my readers! So thank you for all the support! I’m happy people read, leave comments, send emails and such, I love interacting with everyone! You all are the best!

173 / NEW YEAR, NEW DESIGN…

As mentioned earlier this week, the new blog design is now live! I took a cue from French Vogue and kept it simple with a black and white palette with a splash of color for active links. I’ll still be tweaking a few things over the weekend but this is pretty much it.

Don’t forget to send in your favorite outfits photos from 2009! I’ve received photos from almost 30 people so keep them coming! The deadline is this coming Monday, January 4th so be sure to send yours over before then.

I hope everyone had a great New Years whether you stayed in or went out and set the town on fire! 2010 is going to be a great year! Once again, thanks for sticking it out with me!

170 / 2009 FATSHION RECAP! / END-OF-THE-YEAR HOUSEKEEPING

Hey everyone! As the year is coming to a close, I wanted to take a moment to thank each and every one of you who came to the blog, sent me an email, left a comment, or talked to me on twitter and/or facebook. I know that posting has dropped off a great deal in the last month but thank you all for hanging in there with me. I’ve been going through some things in my ~real life so that is where my focus has been. So if you have sent me an email, you’ll definitely get a reply sometime this week. Also, I have a couple of things planned for January so I hope to start off the new year running!

Since it will be a new year, I will be re-launching this here blog of mine with a new design, inspired by the amazingly designed French Vogue! It will be launching in the next few days so keep your eyes peeled for that! I love the new header which features an image from Beth Ditto’s editorial in POP magazine that I posted a while ago.

I absolutely love that image and thought it’d be a great representation of the blog in the new year!

I will also be re-launching the Shop Fatshionista selling blog! I’m in the midst of photographing a bunch of things to put up for sale. Now that I’ll have more free time, I’ll be able to update it regularly. Also, I’m debating opening the shop up to others who may have things they want to sell. So let me know if you think its a good idea or if you would be interested in selling things there. You can leave a comment here or just send me an email. If there’s enough interest, I’ll definitely do that.

Ok, back to the fatshion!

In order to send off 2009 the right way, I want to do a Fatshion Recap post! It would great if everyone could send me photos of you in your favorite outfit(s) from this year. I don’t care what your style is, the more, the merrier! However many you want to send is totally fine with me! I also know that a lot of people have special NYE outfits planned so the deadline is a week from today, Monday, January 4, 2010. 038 / in our size - mesh bandeau dress

There are a couple of new weekly franchises that I’ll be rolling out in the coming week. First is Fatspiration Fridays. This is not to be confused or linked with thinspiration/pro-ana sites and the like. It is instead, a weekly post of beautiful fat bodies to help inspire others in their fat acceptance journey. Some of you may be familiar with the fledging tumblrs that use the same idea such as fuck yeah death fatties! and hey fat chick. I am a definite fan of them and the body positive imagery they post so I wanted to incorporate that into this blog.

The second franchise is In Our Size. In this franchise I will highlight plus sized alternatives to clothing found in straight sized stores. Also, I would like to incorporate you all in the franchise as well. If you come across an outfit you like, I will be happy to see if I can replicate it for plus sizes. For the inaugural In Our Size post, we have the Mesh Bandeau Dress. Most recently made popular by American Apparel and now being seen all over the blogosphere and magazine summer must-have lists. While browsing Fat Girls Like Nice Clothes Too! I noticed that Evans recently jumped on board and produced this plus sized version. I, for one, am IN LOVE. I know I say it a lot but I really really like this dress/tunic. The fact that the mesh part is at the top makes it a little more sexy while still being modest. It’ll make a perfect addition to my expanding summer wardrobe. What do you guys think?
