208 / GOD SAVE MCQUEEN

I’ve been struggling to come up with something to say about Alexander McQueen for the past 24 hours. I’m not sure that I can fully articulate how great of a designer we lost yesterday. He was such a visionary, such an artist, one of this generation’s best for sure. His talent for making statements with both his clothes and his runway shows was one of a kind. To me, McQueen was more of an experience. I could get lost for hours in his shows which were more like performance art pieces. As he grew and matured, his work got better and better. His last womenswear show for s/s 2010 was mind-blowing and produced the season’s most talked about shoe. I came across this YouTube video highlighting some of his most memorable runway moments and I literally teared up. We definitely lost a legend.
As a bonus, here’s some photos of Beth Ditto in BlackBook magazine wearing McQueen pieces.
