181 / OOTD: EXPERIMENT #1

One of my personal goals for 2010 was to be bolder when it came to my fashion sense. It was always easier to grab whatever and throw it on without giving much thought to it when I had to rush to work in the morning (I am NOT a morning person.) Since I have more time now, I want to make the best of it as far as fashion is concerned. So I’m combing through tons of clothes and experimenting with outfits and I thought it’d be cool to post them here on the blog. All of them won’t be great, but it’ll still be interesting to share with the masses.
In this experiment, I wanted to play with shape a bit. I started with this Louise Goldin for Topshop dress that I posted about before. I bought it in a size 12 so its more of a tunic length on me rather than dress length. I paired it with a black high-waisted skirt I purchased from Jibri because the shape can be easily manipulated. I pinned it up in two places to create more of a hitch effect in the front. I finished it with my Beth Ditto for Evans biker jacket to toughen it up and played with the feather cape/collar that I scored from ASOS a few months ago.

I liked it initially but I then decided it was too busy and paired it down. I got rid of the feathers and switched shoes. The final look is a winner in my book.
